Gruner + Jahr places great emphasis on the paper on which magazines and newspapers are printed being manufactured under the best possible environmental conditions and, of course, on paper being saved wherever possible.
Since 1993, Gruner + Jahr has been campaigning against the depletion of primeval forests. Together with the other German publishing houses and paper manufacturers, certification criteria for ecological forest management have been established.
The aim is to utilize paper responsibly, efficiently and going easy on resources within the entire value chain. The paper used by G+J originates solely from verifiably well-managed and credibly certified forestry. In addition deforestation as well as production processes have to consider susstainability aspects - both socially and ecologically. Therefore certified wood fibers and paper with maximum recycled content are given preference. No wood derived from primary forests or other forests worth protecting may be used for production.
