G+J launches "Parenting Network" as first transnational online project / Seven countries to be included in launch

G+J International is establishing a new international parenting network, based on the German ELTERN.de website, in a move which represents G+J's first transnational online project. By the end of 2008 local websites will go online in Croatia, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia and Spain. In 2009 the worldwide rollout will continue. The beta version was already launched at the end of September in Croatia (www.roditelji.hr) and by the end of October the parenting website in Italy will also go online (www.nostrofiglio.it).

G+J photo award - the 2009 competition starts

Gruner + Jahr publishing house and its partners ran the G+J photo award competition for the first time in spring 2008. The photo award is a prize celebrating new professional talent and young professional photographers up to the age of 35 years. An amazing 602 entries made this competition a resounding success last year and encouraged the partners to stage it again this year. The first competition round for 2009 starts today.

Gruner + Jahr Becomes Sole Shareholder of FINANCIAL TIMES DEUTSCHLAND

The British media group Pearson Plc. has decided to sell its 50-percent stake in the FINANCIAL TIMES DEUTSCHLAND (FTD) to Gruner+Jahr AG retroactively to January 1, 2008. The parties have agreed to keep the purchase price confidential. The move turns G+J into the sole owner of FTD. Further to the transaction, a long-term licensing contract was signed with the Financial Times Group governing the brand use rights as well as editorial cooperation with the "Financial Times". The share purchase is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.

Christoph Gerth Appointed Director International at G+J Media Sales

Christoph Gerth, 32, will be taking over the management of the International Media Sales (IMS) marketing unit at G+J Germany with effect from March 1, 2008. He succeeds André; Freiheit, who, as announced earlier, will take on the position of Senior Director Ad Sales at G+J STERN/GEO/ART on March 1.

Thilo von Trott named new Chief of Public Affairs & Corporate Responsibility / Maria Hoffacker appointed as his deputy

Dr. Thilo von Trott, 40, will be taking on the management of the newly created department Public Affairs and Corporate Responsibility at Gruner + Jahr with effect from February 1. He will be moving to the corporate communications department from the G+J's Women/Family/People publishing group, where he currently holds a management position with the titles HEALTHY LIVING and FRAU IM SPIEGEL. In his new capacity, Thilo von Trott will report to Dr. Andreas Knaut, head of G+J's corporate communications department.

G+J Launches GEO in Finland with Sanoma Magazines

G+J International continues the expansion of its GEO brand with the launch of a licensed edition in Finland in collaboration with Sanoma Magazines. GEO Finland will make its newsstand debut in March 2008 in a print run of 70,000 copies, and at a cover price of ;euro;8.90 (~$13). Katriina Palo-Närhinen, 42, is the new magazine's editor-in-chief.
