"One for all": best for planning 2014 market-media study enables planning of media convergence for the first time

Under the motto of "One for all", the management board of Gesellschaft für integrierte Kommunikationsforschung (GIK) has today presented the new results of the best for planning (b4p) market-media study. In its second edition, the joint study by the four media companies uses an even more broadly based analytical technique to provide optimum opportunities for target group analysis and planning. One special focus this year is on the topic of media convergence.

Christian Krug takes over the position of chief editor of STERN magazine on October, 1st 2014

The managing board of Gruner + Jahr appoints Christian Krug, currently chief editor of GALA magazine, to chief editor STERN on October, 1st 2014. The managing board of Gruner + Jahr is in separation talks with STERN chief editor Dominik Wichmann. Until Christian Krug takes office, STERN publisher Andreas Petzold will take over on an interim basis.

By using the veeseo recommendation technology in the high-reach Ligatus premium network with more than 1,100 publishers across Europe, the two companies together form the largest supplier of Content Recommendations in Europe.

Gruner + Jahr sells U.S. printing business Brown Printing Company to Quad/Graphics

Hamburg, 7 April 2014
Gruner + Jahr sells its printing business in the United States, Brown Printing Company (BPC), to Quad/Graphics, Inc.* (QG). The transaction involves the acquisition of the three printing plants in Waseca, Woodstock and East Greenville including the transfer of employees and obligations belonging to Brown Printing. BPC is part of G+J Printing and Publishing Co. and is the last remaining operational G+J business in the United States after the U.S. publishing business was sold in 2005.

Gruner + Jahr: Successful start to the transformation / business operations as expected in 2013 / clear return to profitability

The fiscal year 2013 at Gruner + Jahr was characterized by personnel, organizational and strategic realignment. The former printing and publishing house transforms itself into a creative house of content that stands for high quality print and digital formats. In fiscal 2013 Gruner + Jahr recorded a decline in revenue as well as operating result remaining below the level of the previous year. Adjusted revenues were € 2.07 billion (2012: € 2.22 billion), operating EBITDA was € 193 million (2012: € 213 million). The EBITDA margin was 9.3 percent after 9.6 percent in the prior year. Operating EBIT fell to € 146 million (2012: € 168 million).
