Gruner + Jahr will launch its kid's magazine GEOlino in cooperation with Children's Fun Publishing in January 2011 in China. Before that GEOlino China will be published as of now twice as a trial version in our partners' kids magazines, before it starts as self-standing publication in January 2011.

Proclaimed by the United Nations, the year will be marked by a wide variety of activities in numerous countries, organized to build people's awareness of how valuable it is to have a high diversity of plants and animals, ecosystems and genetic variety.

Quest wins ;lsquo;Magazine Of The Year' award

In front of a capacity crowd of 1.000 top magazine professionals during the annual Mercur Magazine Awards Gala Quest received the Mercur award for ;lsquo;Magazine Of The Year'. The entire editorial team of 30 climbed the stage when the winner was announced. ;lsquo;And then there were just eight of us in the beginning', says Karlijn van Overbeek, Editor-in-Chief. ;lsquo;Circulation has steadily increased since the launch in 2004. Over 200.000 copies of Quest are being sold every month, satisfying a total readership of almost 1,1 million. This Mercur award is also a prize for all those readers. We are proud to carry the title ;lsquo;Magazine Of The Year' for all of 2010.'

Martin Trautmann appointed new Executive Vice President of G+J's business publications and popular-science titles in France

Martin Trautmann (41) has been appointed Executive Vice President of Prisma Presse. In his new role, he will supervise the Business and Science (;Eacute;conomie / Dé;couverte) division of G+J's French publishing arm. From January, this puts him in charge of the GEO, CAPITAL, ;Ccedil;A M'INT;Eacute;RESSE, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC and MANAGEMENT magazines and websites.

This evening marked the fifth time that Gruner + Jahr publishers and stern magazine have presented the Henri Nannen Award to honor top performances in German-language print journalism. The 14 award winners were honored at a celebratory event at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg in front of around 1,200 prominent guests from the world of media, culture, politics and economics.

Bernd Buchholz Appointed Chief Executive Officer of Gruner + Jahr

Dr Bernd Buchholz, a member of the G+J Executive Board and President of G+J Germany, has been appointed the new CEO of Gruner + Jahr by the company's supervisory board with immediate effect. Buchholz succeeds Dr Bernd Kundrun, who today resigned as CEO with immediate effect due to differences regarding Gruner + Jahr's future strategy. The company and Kundrun are parting ways in mutual agreement. Bernd Buchholz's appointment to the Bertelsmann Executive Board will be decided on by the appropriate administrative bodies at a later point in time.

G+J International continues the expansion of its GEO brand with the launch of a licensed edition in Finland in collaboration with Sanoma Magazines. GEO Finland will make its newsstand debut in March 2008 in a print run of 70,000 copies, and at a cover price of ;euro;8.90 (~$13). Katriina Palo-Närhinen, 42, is the new magazine's editor-in-chief.

G+J Bundles Eastern European Publishing Business In Warsaw

G+J´s International Magazines division is bundling Gruner + Jahr´s publishing businesses in Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe. Based in Warsaw, Mario Husten will manage the publishing activities in the region, including Poland and Russia, as President Central Eastern Europe as of February 2006. After establishing joint ventures in Greece and the Adriatic region and the launch of the international edition of "Geo," the new management structure creates the precondition for further growth, according to Gruner + Jahr. The goal is to enter new markets;#151;also through partnerships and acquisitions;#151;in addition to the expansion of the international concept and brand transfer.

Gruner + Jahr Pressehaus Hosts German Premiere of World Press Photo Award 2005

Each year for 50 years now, the World Press Photo Foundation´s international panel of judges has picked the best and most memorable press photographs of the previous year. This year, the World Press Photo exhibition again shows moving and haunting images: of the aftermath of the Tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia, the hostage-taking in Beslan, and of political unrest in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. But there are also pictures that tell of major sports events like the Olympics in Athens, along with photography highlights from art, culture, nature and science.

A panel of 15judges furnished by the Dutch magazine association NUV selectedQUEST as the No.1 among 52 new titles, preferring it to rivalsincluding Hearst´s "Cosmo Girl" or Linda de Mol´s "Linda." On behalfof her 13-person editorial team, QUEST´s editor-in-chiefKarlijn van Overbeek accepted the Mercury figurine at a galaevent in Aalsmeer.

After the great success of GEOLINO and NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC WORLD in Germany, GEOLENOK in Russia and FOCUS JUNIOR in Italy, G+J seeks to strengthen its powerful position in the Dutch popular-science segment with a separate offshoot for young readers. The title will be published 11 times a year beginning Sep 28, in partnership with the Malmberg imprint, one of the Netherland´s most tradition-steeped and highly acclaimed educational publishers.
