Hamburg, 17 June 2002 – Management summary for G+J publishing groups, Brigitte and München
With effect from July 1 2002, Anne Volk (58) will, voluntarily and at her own request, hand over the helm of the G+J Brigitte publishing group (BRIGITTE, BRIGITTE YOUNG MISS, BRIGITTE WOMAN) to Dr. Volker Breid (40).
She will stay on as publisher for the Brigitte group and will continue to manage editing for BRIGITTE until a ruling is reached on the position of successor editor-in-chief.
Dr. Volker Breid, BRIGITTE publishing manager from 1997 to 2000, is taking over management of the Brigitte publishing group in addition to his role as publishing manager of the G+J München publishing group (ELTERN, MARIE CLAIRE, P.M.). The two female-oriented publishing groups will therefore be merged into one unit.
The Munich group publishing manager Volker Breid has direct responsibility for the Munich group magazine titles ELTERN, MARIE CLAIRE and P.M. As part of his general management function, Jörg Plathner (36) will continue as publishing manager for the Brigitte title.
Together with Antje Dittrich (37), Jörg Plathner will take over management of G+J Women New Media GmbH which already includes the ELTERN and Brigitte group websites.
Extended management at Ehrlich + Sohn
Under the direction of Dr. Friedrich Wehrle (50), the external service lines belonging to the G+J Advertising Department will be condensed from six to four and they will be restructured with a target group orientation.
In the future, STERN, GEO, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, P.M. and TV TODAY will be marketed in an extended external advertising service line. The titles of the P.M. group will remain an integral component of the München publishing group.
The Ehrlich + Sohn publishing group titles, GALA and FRAU IM SPIEGEL, as well as ELTERN and MARIE CLAIRE, will be marketed together with the Brigitte titles in an external service line in future.
The external advertising service of the business press titles CAPITAL, IMPULSE, BÖRSE ONLINE and FTD will be enhanced by the addition of the LUFTHANSA-MAGAZIN. The external advertising service of the Schöner Wohnen group with LIVING AT HOME, ESSEN ; TRINKEN, SCHÖNER ESSEN, DECORATION, NEUES WOHNEN, HÄUSER and FLORA will remain unchanged.
Rolf Wickmann, G+J Magazines Managing Director: These measures concentrate our activities and take the requirements of our market partners in the advertising business of a strong, target group-oriented marketing of our title portfolio into account. By merging the publishing groups, we are strengthening our market position in the women and family segment. And by condensing the external service lines from six to four we are combining the benefits of a coordinated market presence with the advantages of a decentralized, individual, brand and title-oriented publishing structure. The individuality and independence of our editorial staff remains unaffected.
