Management Changeover at NEWS: Oliver Voigt to Succeed Rudi Klausnitzer

Hamburg, 20 November 2005 –

Rudi Klausnitzer, 57, has decided not to renew his contract with the Austrian NEWS publishing group, which is expiring soon, for personal reasons. He will instead take a seat on the publishing group´s advisory board. Oliver Voigt, 39, currently Managing Director of G+J Poland, will succeed him as CEO, having been unanimously appointed by the NEWS shareholders. Rudi Klausnitzer will continue to serve the publishing group in a consulting capacity and will also act as advisor to the G+J Executive Board.

As publisher and CEO, Oliver Voigt will take on the overall supervision of the Austrian operations, which is the second largest international market in G+J´s portfolio after France. The political sciences graduate began his career in publishing following a traineeship in 1993 as management assistant at Marquard Media in Munich, where he was eventually promoted to the position of Director, International Magazines. In 1999, he left to join the NEWS publishing group in Vienna as its Managing Director Marketing, and stayed with the group until it merged with the Kurier group. In 2001, Voigt was appointed the sole Managing Director of G+J Poland. He launched a number of magazines, helped G+J Poland attain leading positions in the Polish advertising market and turned the publishing subsidiary into a highly profitable venture over the years.

Dr. Torsten-Jörn Klein, President G+J International and Chairman of the NEWS publishing group advisory board, said: "My gratitude goes out to Rudi Klausnitzer for his work at the NEWS publishing group. He has significantly improved the publishing group´s results in recent years despite a tough market environment. I am delighted to have found a top-notch successor for Rudi Klausnitzer in the person of Oliver Voigt, my own preferred candidate. He is a consummate expert on the Austrian print market."

Magdalena Malicka, 35, will succeed Oliver Voigt in Poland. After graduating with a degree in the theory of drama, Malicka went on to earn an MBA at the Haute ;Eacute;cole de Commerce de Paris and the University of Technology in Warsaw. She joined Gruner + Jahr in 2000 as Project Manager of the women´s magazine NAJ, and eventually was promoted to the position of Executive Publisher of the women´s magazines group clustered around CLAUDIA, the best-selling and most profitable title in G+J Poland´s portfolio.

Torsten-Jörn Klein said: "Magdalena Malicka is an outstanding publishing executive and knows our Polish publishing subsidiary from the ground up. I am very pleased to be able to appoint an executive from within the company to this management position. I wish Magdalena Malicka all the best and much success with her new duties."
