Hamburg, 10 December 2007 –
W.E. Saarbach, a subsidiary of DPV Worldwide, was named "International Distributor of the Year" last week in London. The title is awarded annually by the "Association of Circulation Executives" (ACE), whose members are international companies in publishing and distribution. W.E. Saarbach, Germany´s biggest importer of press products, was nominated by British newspaper publisher, The Guardian, London. W.E. Saarbach handles distribution of THE GUARDIAN in Germany.
The nomination for the ACE Award was based on the marketing activities performed by Saarbach for THE GUARDIAN this year. These activities comprised a re-branding campaign in spring of 2007, including outdoor advertising at Frankfurt Central Station, retailer mailings, POS promotions and visits to retailers, as well as a campaign in several big cities involving promotional postcards in restaurants and pubs, a free city guide, POS promotions and a prize draw for retailers.
The award pays tribute not only to the newspaper´s sales figures relative to the performance of British newspapers overall in Germany, but also to the marketing campaigns, sales-promoting measures and all other sales efforts involved in achieving these figures: "Our promotions resulted in significant increases in sales. We are quite proud of the ACE Award," said Matthias Klieber, managing director of W.E. Saarbach in Cologne-Hürth.
The British publishing company says it was moved to nominate W.E. Saarbach based on its excellent relationship with this highly professional distributor, which made it possible to explore new ways to promote sales of an international title in Germany. "Our German distribution arm developed an excellent, tailor-made promotion campaign which enhanced our strong, successful partnership," commented the publisher of The Guardian, London at the awards ceremony. In 2006, Saarbach was also among the seven companies nominated for the prize, which last year ended up being awarded to Dunya, a Turkish distributor of media.
Saarbach and DPV see themselves as strong partners in the press distribution business. Under the DPV umbrella, the two big providers - Saarbach and DPV Worldwide – work together closely in the worldwide distribution of international magazines and newspapers, offering German and foreign publishers custom-tailored import and export distribution. Saarbach benefits from an ongoing transfer of expertise within the DPV group of companies, and can avail itself of all the resources of the five units that together furnish DPV´s full spectrum of services.
For decades, Saarbach has been internationally acclaimed as the top name in import to and distribution of foreign-language press products in Germany. It handles some 2,000 titles published by approximately 250 imprints. One major focus of its work, beyond major international magazines such as "The Economist," "TIME" magazine, "Elle," and "Paris Match" are the more than 100 newspapers, which are distributed throughout Germany via three logistics channels, depending on their arrival time. With its comprehensive and individual services, Saarbach offers its customers in publishing the necessary expertise to lastingly establish their titles on the German press market.
