G+J Grows in China, Launches FOCUS/XINZHIKE

Hamburg, 17 September 2006 –

Gruner + Jahr is expanding its activities in China by launching the popularscience magazine FOCUS/XINZHIKE. This brings the total number ofmagazines jointly published in China by G+J and the CLIP imprint, Peking,to four. FOCUS/XINZHIKE is based on the internationally successfulP.M./FOCUS/MUY INTERESANTE concept. FOCUS/XINZHIKE coversscientific, historical and technological topics and phenomena in easy-tounderstand, lavishly illustrated articles accompanied by lucid informational graphics. The Chinese name XINZHIKE loosely translates to "knowledge trendsetter" and is designed to appeal especially to a young Chinesereadership in the republic´s big cities. FOCUS/XINZHIKE made its debut inearly September with a 128-page issue in a print run of 50´000 copies,priced at €1 each. The magazine´s editor-in-chief is Jacky Zhang (37).
