G+J International is expanding its portfolio of people magazines, as GALA premieres in the Netherlands on Sep 27. GALA is now published in a total of six countries: France, Germany, Poland, Russia and Croatia – and the Netherlands.
GALA Netherlands will make its newsstand debut at an introductory cover price of 1 euro, and in an initial print run of around 230,000 copies. The editor-in-chief of its 17-person team is Petra Bakker Schut, 48, one of the most experienced people journalists in the Netherlands. Marcel Thoen, 34, will serve as executive publisher.

None of the magazines in the segment has the classiness that sets GALA apart. Our advertising customers have responded enthusiastically to the launch of this first weekly people title in the high-end market. The response has been similar to the launch in 2005 of our magazine GLAMOUR, which has since become the biggest monthly women´s magazine in the Dutch market."
