Hamburg, 15 September 2008 –
Gruner + Jahr publishing house and its partners ran the G+J photo award competition for the first time in spring 2008. The photo award is a prize celebrating new professional talent and young professional photographers up to the age of 35 years. An amazing 602 entries made this competition a resounding success last year and encouraged the partners to stage it again this year. The first competition round for 2009 starts today.
The G+J photo award is practically oriented and is aimed at opening doors for young people, as well as educating them in the requirements needed for working with editorial teams and media agencies. Eligible photographers can submit their work in 12 categories with different themes. These categories are oriented to the demands of everyday editorial and agency work.
Previously unpublished work from 2008 and January 2009 may be submitted.
The entry deadline is January 31, 2009, 6pm.
The competition is geared to aspiring and professional photographers up to the age of 35 years, who are either
- still in training, or
- have finished their education or
- have already undertaken commissions for magazines and advertising agencies
Categories and themes, as well as competition conditions and the entry form, are available for downloading at: www.guj.de/photoaward/en.
