Hamburg, Gütersloh and Bochum, 16. November 2015 – Gruner + Jahr, the Hamburg-based media company, has taken over Employour GmbH in Bochum for an eight-digit sum and linked it to Medienfabrik embrace. This creates a new market leader for school-leaver and student marketing.
As Stephan Schäfer, Chief Product Officer of Gruner + Jahr puts it, "the digital transformation of Gruner + Jahr is proceeding successfully with the acquisition of the start-up Employour. This move will strengthen us in the increasingly important field of employer branding, where Medienfabrik is already leading the way with its brand embrace. This new power center, which comprises Medienfabrik and G+J Corporate Editors, will further consolidate its leading market position among content communication service providers."
Both Employour and embrace are focused on vocational and study orientation for young people. The two companies combined account for more than ten million monthly page views and have access to more than 140,000 registered members. This makes them the number one in the German market in terms of attracting young employees – and by some distance, too. Their joint list of customers across all networks and consultancy businesses includes 26 of the 30 DAX companies and a total of more than 820 firms. At their Gütersloh, Bochum and Berlin locations, 210 employees develop innovative products and services for the human resources market.
"We firmly believe that every person deserves to find the best fitting job and employer for them," says Gero Hesse, Managing Director of Medienfabrik and head of the embrace business unit. "Unified under the embrace name, we now offer innovative talent relationship management, employer branding from consultancy through to implementation and far-reaching job boards – there is nothing quite like it on the market!"
Stefan Peukert and Daniel Schütt founded the start-up Employour in Bochum in 2010. "We have been bringing companies and young people together for over five years now, and have impacted the way school-leavers and students find their first job. We now want to keep this up together with embrace, and combine our efforts to redefine personnel marketing. We are already in the process of preparing the first joint product for the beginning of 2016."
With over 500 media activities, magazines, and digital offerings, Gruner + Jahr reaches readers and users in more than 20 countries.
