Hamburg, 23 January 2008 –
Dr. Thilo von Trott, 40, will be taking on the management of the newly created department Public Affairs and Corporate Responsibility at Gruner + Jahr with effect from February 1. He will be moving to the corporate communications department from the G+J's Women/Family/People publishing group, where he currently holds a management position with the titles HEALTHY LIVING and FRAU IM SPIEGEL. In his new capacity, Thilo von Trott will report to Dr. Andreas Knaut, head of G+J's corporate communications department.
Thilo von Trott, who holds a doctorate in law, began his career by working as a corporate attorney and legal adviser for a number of media companies. He joined Gruner + Jahr in 2001 as Director Business Affairs in the Multimedia department. In 2003, he was assigned to projects in the G+J Germany division before being appointed to the management offices of GALA, FRAU IM SPIEGEL and HEALTHY LIVING. During his previous assignments, Thilo von Trott has already represented G+J in Berlin and Brussels on numerous occasions.
His deputy department head will be Dr. Maria Hoffacker, who has served to date as Director Public Affairs in Gruner +Jahr's corporate communications department.
The new PA/CR department will provide a new bracket for topics such as public affairs, corporate social responsibility, sponsorship activities, and corporate identity - all of which were handled separately in the past. The new structure is expected to enhance synergies and accelerate the advancement of this branch of communications, which is becoming increasingly important.
Andreas Knaut, Head of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, said: "Thilo von Trott is ideally suited to developing and expanding Gruner + Jahr's public affairs and corporate responsibility activities. As an experienced publishing executive, he has extensive practical expertise, which is urgently needed especially when dealing with political subjects and decision-making processes. Furthermore, he is very much at home in the political arena. I therefore greatly look forward to working with Mr. von Trott. I am positive that we will make a great deal of progress in these two key areas in the years ahead."
Dr. Volker Breid, publishing director of the Women/ Family/People publishing group, said: "I thank Thilo von Trott for his successful and knowledgeable work for our publishing group in the past few years, in particular for the further extension of the GALA and FRAU IM SPIEGEL brands and the successful market launch of HEALTHY LIVING, a magazine in whose develop he played a formative role. I wish him the best of luck and success in his new assignment."
