Hamburg/Stuttgart, May 31, 2017 –Top management change at the Motor Presse Stuttgart (MPS): After more than five years as the company’s CEO, Dr. Volker Breid has decided to leave MPS for family reasons and to pursue a new professional challenge. MPS shareholders Gruner + Jahr and the founding families Pietsch and Dietrich-Troeltsch have appointed Nils Oberschelp, to date CEO of the media brand distribution specialist DPV Deutscher Pressevertrieb, as his successor. As of July 1, 2017, Nils Oberschelp will assume the role of CEO at Motor Presse Stuttgart and, as such, overall responsibility for the company’s business activities.
MPS is a leading special-interest publishing house that produces and markets around 100 magazines and 250 digital products around the world. Its product range focuses on the topics of cars, motorbikes, aerospace, lifestyle, sport, and health, and includes well-known brands such as auto motor und sport, MOTORRAD, Men’s Health, outdoor, FLUG REVUE, MOUNTAINBIKE, RUNNER’S WORLD, and promobil.

Nils Oberschelp took over the position of CEO at DPV Deutscher Pressevertrieb in 2013. Over the course of the last four years, he has succeeded in establishing DPV – a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gruner + Jahr – as one of Germany’s leading full-service media distribution companies. He achieved this by various means, among them DPV’s acquisition of Axel Springer Vertriebsservice GmbH, which Oberschelp oversaw, and strong investment in the high-potential areas of multichannel and digital publishing. He also considerably expanded the company’s client business. Before joining DPV, Nils Oberschelp worked directly for G+J, as Publishing Manager and Managing Director of publications such as GALA, IN, GRAZIA, and 11FREUNDE.
Dr. Volker Breid has been Managing Director of the Motor Presse Stuttgart since 1st March 2012 and Motor Presse International Verlagsgesellschaft Holding mbH. He began his career in Gruner + Jahr’s business development unit, later assuming the roles of Publishing Director at the BRIGITTE Group and Managing Director of of the Munich G+J publishing group. In 2003, Dr. Breid was appointed Managing Director of Gruner + Jahr‘s Womens, Family and People media segments at the publishing company’s Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich locations. He was honored for his business achievements in 2009 with the Bertelsmann Award for Outstanding entrepreneurial Achievements. From 2011 to 2014, Dr. Breid served on the G+J advisory board as the elected representative of executive-level employees.
