SPIEGEL MEDIA joins the Ad Alliance, expanding its quality portfolio

Hamburg/Cologne, 1 September 2017 - SPIEGEL MEDIA, the SPIEGEL Group's advertising sales house, is joining Gruner + Jahr and Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland as a new partner in their Ad Alliance, the advertising sales alliance established a year ago. As a result, the media brands DER SPIEGEL, SPIEGEL ONLINE, manager magazin and Harvard Business Manager will become part of Ad Alliance's quality portfolio. Together with RTL, VOX and n-tv, STERN, BRIGITTE, GALA and their respective digital offerings, the advertising sales houses of the Ad Alliance reach 99 per cent of the German population every month.

SPIEGEL MEDIA will operate under the umbrella of the Ad Alliance as a strategic partner alongside IP Deutschland, G+J e|MS and smartclip, but act independently within it. The Ad Alliance negotiates, concludes and controls framework contracts on behalf of its individual advertising sales houses. It also offers its customers ideas and solutions for presenting their products across all media categories, especially in digital formats, enhancing their reach in effective, high-quality journalistic environments. The official launch of the new, coordinated products will take place at this year's dmexco.

SPIEGEL-Verlag Managing Director Thomas Hass says: "Joining the Ad Alliance will further heighten our offerings' relevance to customers and agencies. It will also secure the long-term success of our advertising sales in a climate of ever more intense competition. We're greatly looking forward to working together and feel certain that as a new partner we'll be able to further strengthen the alliance's position in the German advertising market. SPIEGEL MEDIA complements the existing portfolio, especially in the top target group of 'decision-makers', thanks to its high-quality online and print inventory."

Stephan Schäfer, Chief Product Officer at Gruner + Jahr says: "Strong journalistic brands, secure premium environments in all media categories and an unparallelled reach in the marketplace: these are the strengths of the Ad Alliance's advertising sales houses. We're delighted that the SPIEGEL Group is adding its strengths to this umbrella brand. Our customers can only benefit as a result."

Matthias Dang, Managing Director of IP Deutschland says: "After a successful first year under the Ad Alliance umbrella, we're very happy to see SPIEGEL MEDIA joining us as another advertising sales house, for its portfolio will further strengthen our three key value propositions: quality, impact and reach.“

About the Ad Alliance:
Under the umbrella of the Ad Alliance, founded in 2016, the advertising sales houses G + J e|MS, IP Deutschland, smartclip and, as from September 2017, SPIEGEL MEDIA, will cater to advertisers’ growing demand for cross-category advertising sales offerings. The individual advertising sales houses in the Ad Alliance propose coordinated offerings, guaranteeing an extensive reach, cross-media solutions and innovative advertising products for advertisers and agencies. At the same time, as a service to the respective advertising sales houses, the Ad Alliance negotiates, concludes and controls framework contracts. The individual advertising sales houses' expanded portfolio under the umbrella of the Ad Alliance will reach 99 per cent of the German population every month.
