G+J International Media Sales (IMS) begins international marketing in Germany and opens an international office in Hamburg.

Hamburg, 20 January 2011 –

International Media Claudia Scheil, since January 2011 IMS has expanded its field of activity to include the international advertising budgets of German companies, thereby increasing its relevance as a global marketing partner. Upon opening its new office, IMS had already won the well-known business magazine "Forbes" and British Airways' renowned in-flight and ambient media as new clients.

Hamburg, 20 January 2011
On 1 January 2011 IMS opened a new branch office in Hamburg, its seventh alongside the existing international offices in London, Paris, Ghent, Zurich, Vienna and Milan. This steadfast expansion of its market presence and high-quality consulting and support services now enables IMS to access the international budgets of German customers for its worldwide portfolio of titles. Now ads in titles published by Prisma Presse (including "Capital", "Femme Actuelle", "Gala", "GEO") and G+J Spain (including "GEO", "Marie Claire", "Ser Padres") can be booked through the IMS office in Germany. The titles of other G+J international subsidiaries will follow shortly. G+J Media Sales will continue to handle the national marketing of titles from G+J Deutschland and German clients.

At the same, by covering the relevant German ad sales market, IMS is becoming an even more important pan-European marketer for international titles published by third parties in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. Simultaneously with the opening of the German office, it can already report two successes in the resolute expansion of its international third-party marketing business: First, on 1 January 2011, IMS took over the marketing of the print and online publications of the American business magazine "Forbes" in Germany. The English-language magazine was founded in 1917 and today has more than 6 million readers per issue and 18 million unique users on its website forbes.com, making it quite possibly the most influential international business magazine in the world. The magazine is compelling for its high degree of relevance in the target group of decision makers and executives. With the first publication of the "Forbes Europe" edition in 2011 and its various special publications such as the lifestyle magazine "Forbes Life!" and "Forbes Asia" – all of which are also marketed by IMS – Forbes is further expanding its relevance in specific regions and subject areas.

Second, in the in-flight media sector, IMS has gained British Airways, one of the world's largest airlines, as a new client for international marketing in the German and Austrian markets. The British Airways in-flight magazines "High Life" and "Business Life" collectively reach approximately 1.1 million decision-makers per issue. Thus they are among the highest-reach pan-European business magazines and offer ideal opportunities for effectively addressing pan-European business groups. In addition, British Airways issues various special publications: special issues for first- and business-class travelers, such as "First Live." There is also a wide range of ambient media opportunities in the 30 BA lounges worldwide, on board the aircraft as well as online at BA.com.

Claudia Scheil will head the new IMS marketing offices. She has been with G+J for ten years, and as head of advertising sales for six lifestyle and food titles including was most recently responsible for the success of the titles "Schöner Wohnen" and "Essen & Trinken". She previously managed the ad sales department at "Healthy Living" and as head of advertising at IN successfully integrated one of the first third-party clients for national Media Sales into the portfolio. In addition, she was deputy head of advertising sales at "Gala" and "Frau im Spiegel".An economics graduate, she began her career in strategic media planning with the media agency GFMO.OMD. She then worked at Jahreszeiten Verlag in advertising marketing at "Petra" magazine before joining G+J in 2001. Scheil reports to André; Freiheit, Director of International Media Sales.

"I am delighted that with Forbes and British Airways two highly respected companies have chosen to entrust us with marketing their media in Germany", said Freiheit. "The integration of Spanish and French G+J titles is also a logical next step in bundling our international marketing activities. With the seven international offices we now have as well as our comprehensive Hamburg Sales Management and Support team, we are ideally positioned to further develop the high-growth international advertising business for G+J and our clients. I wish Claudia Scheil every success in her new role as Sales Director International Media at IMS Deutschland. She is the ideal person for this growing line of business, as our advertisers and clients will be able to benefit from her many years of experience in marketing different brands and her excellent, network of contacts across industry borders in the German advertising market."
